I worked as a graphic designer with Non-profit organization, Groove With Me Inc. on a project called 'Art A Catalyst For Change'. They received a grant from the NYC Council of the Arts to bring art projects to mostly kids of color in schools where there are little-to-no arts programs and brought me on as the main designer to bring this Zine to life!
Art A Catalyst For Change is an Anti Gun violence initiative that is funded by City Council. The aim of this project is to use the arts as a means of developing critical thinking, intervention and to help build awareness amongst the youth.
We worked closely with a wonderful classroom of students at the Esperanza Preparatory Academy in the Upper East Side of NYC. After explaining the project to the kids and inspiring them to express their feelings and/or experiences through artwork, they created very powerful sketches, artwork and poetry.
